Crosswalk Facing the United States Capitol
WASHINGTON, UNITED STATES · 04 Jun 2026 · TWELVE SECONDS
Three people stand on a sidewalk at a signalized crossing while a marked police SUV passes across the foreground; red vehicle barriers and a guard booth close the road toward the Capitol. Construction of the United States Capitol began on September 18, 1793. The cast-iron dome was designed by Thomas U. Walter, and the last section of the Statue of Freedom was set on top of it on December 2, 1863. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 19, 1960.
The archive does not edit, trim, or re-frame what it receives. The recording is the camera's own output; the archive's only interventions are cataloguing it and preparing a copy that will play.
