Alsterfontäne On The Binnenalster

HAMBURG, GERMANY · 05 Sep 2026 · TWELVE SECONDS
A tall single jet of water rises from the middle of the Alster, leaning as it breaks into drifting spray. A white passenger boat crosses in front of the far shore, and a low multi-arch stone bridge closes the end of the water. The Alsterfontäne has played on the Binnenalster since 18 April 1987 and rises roughly 50 metres. Its platform is removed each November because of frost and replaced around Advent by a lit tree.
The archive does not edit, trim, or re-frame what it receives. The recording is the camera's own output; the archive's only interventions are cataloguing it and preparing a copy that will play.
