A white horse stands on stone paving beside the southeast corner of Seville Cathedral while a man bends down with a small child to touch its muzzle; a uniformed officer stands alongside and people in winter coats walk past. This square sits at the centre of the Cathedral, Alcázar and General Archive of the Indies group, inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 1987. The bell tower behind it, the Giralda, was built in 1195 as the minaret of the city's Almohad mosque.
